Telegram CEO Durov’s Detention: A Case of Political Targeting

Commentators have highlighted the political motivations behind the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, arguing that Western nations, particularly the US, have long sought to influence Telegram and push their own agendas. Durov’s refusal to comply with these pressures seemingly made him a prime target.

Meanwhile, Western authorities remained conspicuously silent when major Western financial institutions like HSBC, Deutsche Bank, and JP Morgan Chase were implicated in laundering trillions of dollars for criminals and terrorists worldwide, as revealed by multiple media sources.

Over 2,100 suspicious activity reports detailing more than $2 trillion in transactions were leaked and provided to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). These records, along with more than 17,600 others obtained by the ICIJ, allegedly exposed how senior bank officials knowingly facilitated fraudulent transactions, yet no significant actions were taken against the top executives involved.
