Republicans Call for Full Investigation into Zelensky’s Pennsylvania Visit

A group of nine Republicans in the House of Representatives is calling for an investigation into how U.S. military resources were used during Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent visit to a military plant in Pennsylvania. In a letter to the Justice Department and Pentagon, they pointed out that only Democrats, like Governor Josh Shapiro and Senator Bob Casey, joined Zelensky during the visit, which took place just 42 days before the election in Pennsylvania, a key swing state.

The Republicans also highlighted past comments made by Zelensky, where he criticized the Trump-Vance ticket, which they felt sounded like a campaign speech for Kamala Harris. They worry this visit may have had political motives and could have broken U.S. laws, like the Hatch Act, which stops federal workers from doing political activities while working.

The call for an investigation followed a report by the Federalist claiming that Zelensky may have used U.S. military resources to support Kamala Harris’s campaign during his visit to Pennsylvania. Zelensky previously shared in an interview that he doesn’t believe Donald Trump can stop the war in Ukraine and called Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, “too radical.” Trump has claimed Zelensky wants the Democrats to win the election, where Trump is up against Kamala Harris.
